First off, have a read of the pinned Estimative Index, lighting, CO2 and algae articles, they'll answer most of your questions, but also generate a million more!

ha ha ha how mean Sam!!

plants can be tricky and if you want to you can get very high tech and complicated with them!

however there's a fair few plants that most people can suceed in growing without getting too tied up in EI etc. Have a look at the pinned topic for some easy plants :good:

Sorry! Wasnt meant to be, just that the pinned topics always do thats all! Please post any and all questions Roseykat if you them :)

i was just having a laugh with you.

but seriously, i've tried to read the EI articles and stuff and they confuse the hell out of me, I wouldn't send an absolute beginner to plants to them.... maybe i'm too soft ;)

Well, the EI article can be a little daunting at first but after a couple of go-arounds with it and a little more research it all comes together.

Good good Miss Wiggle ;) (its tricky getting across subtle emphasis on words when they are written :S)

I know the pinned topics are daunting, I was there myself less than a year ago! Its just that they give the people something to work from if the 'newbie' (no offence intended) has a little bit of knowledge, and also saves me explaining everything every time! I'm far to lazy to do that! if someone can work out from themselves if they want a high or low light tank that's half the battle :)

yeah i know, can be easy to mis interpret things, i definately wasn't having a pop at any rate.... just my attempts at humour.... i'm not too good at it.

anyway i do know what you mean, i spend a lot of time in the beginner forum repeating the basics of cycling and why it's bad you've got an overstocked uncycled tank..... I've just taken the attitude that if there's that many questions about it then the pinned topics need adding to or amending or even just re-titling so that people look at them more. So I've started harassing the mods to change things I think could be better :)

Didn't think you were ;)

One woman crusade hey? I know what you mean about changing things, guess the mods have lives outside TFF though  I know when I started on here I didn't read them, but I was new to forums as a whole, I know now what the 'process' is for joining a new forum -> read!

But at least people have the sense to ask, better that way than stumbling along getting stuff wrong and killing fish in the process.

just wanted something simple .. i would guess low lite type thing i mean i have reg lite on my tank but dont want to hav to change anything drastic .. im still a newbie and learning i just wanted to start something simple im gettin a 25 gallon tank tommorrow and wanted to start wth cycling and get some plants and let it go while it s cycling and put few fake in along with it

Try something along the line of Hygrophilia Polysperma and Egeria Densa. They are easy to keep, cheap and readily available.

Sorry to point you to them again, but the pinned thread about common aquarium plants started by rose, has a new post recently that lists lots of more easy low light plants :) take your pick ;)
