Well I had some problems with my betta breeding attempt this weekend. To make a long story short, I thought the male couldn't get the female wrapped right so I pulled her out and put in a new female. He was aggressive towards her and showed no interest in wanting to breed so I decided to scrap the idea and seek some advice. Jaded12 said that the male and female #1 would probably get things right with more time and to recondition them and try again in a week. Well I left the male in the spawning tank for now. Tonight I was inspecting his beautiful bubble nest and saw...or THINK I saw...eggs! The darn table I have the tank on is kind of low to the ground so I can't look up under the nest very well, but gosh darn it, it sure looks like SOMETHING is in that nest (or else I'm just going crazy from watching these damn fish so much!!!) So, I guess if I see some fry in a couple days it worked after all! I wish I could get a better view of underneath that darn nest.

congrats!!! im thinking about going into breeding again its always exciting when you know your gonna have fry in a few days.

Any way you could snap a picture of the nest, that would make the eggs a lot easier too see.

Heres a pic of royals nest from his last spawn with eggs, does it look like this?

It looks a lot like the 3rd and 4th pics (or at least I think so...my eyes could be playing tricks!) I will try to take a pic tomorrow. They light it kind of bad right now and he's already not liking me squatting down and trying to look under his nest. Will see what I can do :)

Well if he does have eggs it would definatly explain how come he wasn't liking that second girl very much, lol. Have any pics of the parents?

Ok, tried to take pics...gonna see how these turned out. Yes, I have pics of the parents...will dig those up, too. Be back in lil bit! (And I thought I was gonna go to bed...HA!LOL)

Well, the pics didn't turn out that good. That's what happens when I'm all twisted around on the floor trying to take pics of a tank too close to the floor....BUT I accidently bumped the table (stupid clumbsy ox) and made a hole in the bubble nest from the water moving...Aquarius had that hole fixed within seconds! Why would he work so hard and so fast to repair a bubble nest if there weren't eggs there? Hmmmm.....

Yeah, no kidding. How dumb was I? LOL I looked for eggs before I took the female out, but I had been watching them for hours and didn't see anything so didn't figure anything happened so I guess I didn't look close enough. Then I put poor Yuki in there. She didn't have a chance! But I just went back and was looking closer and I definitely see little white things that look like tiny grains of sand...definitely eggs! :good: Oh I'm so excited I could just throw up! I'll never sleep now! And poor Aquarius is pretty sick of me bothering him. Must force myself to stay away! Oh, I hope they hatch ok. Oh my goodness, I'm gonna be a Grandma!! EEEHHHHHH!!! YAAAAAAAAYYYYY :shout:

Actually yes it does look like there are eggs in there!! I'm almost positive!! Congrats! :good: :good:
Thank you :) I'm just over the moon. I haven't been this excited in forever! Heck, I'm not sure I got this excited over my own pregnancies! LOL (just kidding of course)

yay!!! That's so exciting! My little momma had babies last night (except she isn't a betta) and I was literally watching off and on for hours on end. I even woke up in the middle of the night wanting to go see them, and woke up to nearly 50! This morning at work I said "my fish had babies!!!" and they just sort of smiled politely, and then I realized what I had just said...it's ok though, they already know my obsession..it's a running joke around here! :hyper: Congrats!

The eggs should be hatching quite soon! When did they spawn? It usually takes 24-48 hours for them to hatch depending on the tamp in the tank

I'VE GOT FRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are falling out of the nest and Aquarius is having a heck of a time keeping up with them putting them back in!!!! Oh my, it's gonna be another long night watching my fish!
