Hi one of my platys has started loosing weight. It looks like her belly is hollowing. She is swimming around fine. She hasnt dropped any fry she is a virgin. Have you guys got any advice. Cheers.

How often do you feed them?
Also, have you seen any fry? If you bought her at a LFS, chances are she probably could have dropped fry.

They get fed small amounts twice a day. Yea i bought them from LFS. But she hasn't dropped fry she is virgin. Non of the gold comet platys i bought have gravid spots.

Sometimes gravid spots don't always show.
I expect she's dropped some fry and is just a little shocked or something. My females usually lose a bit of weight after they drop, so just keep an eye on her.

If she looks like she is wasting away, remove her to an isolation tank, get a decent picture of her and post in the tropical emergencies section. A healthy female never looks like she is wasting away even the day after a drop.
