This is Boris The Spider, named in honor of The Who song. Boris The Spider is a presumed female Vitalius chromatus (formerly Nhandu chromatus). V. chormatus hails from Southern Brazil and Paraguay and inhabits subtropical forests and grasslands. Commonly called the Brazilian Red and White Tarantula (and you thought fish common names were bad), V. chromatus is a large terrestrial Tarantula with a life span of around 4 years for males and 15-20 years for females.
As far as temperament, V. chromatus are skittish and very fast. Though they are more likely to run and hide when provoked they do possess some of the most irritating urticating hairs of all tarantulas.
I purchased Boris as a 1/2" spiderling on 10/22/20. Boris has molted 13 times in my care includong the last molt on 8/14/25 and now measures 6+" DLS (diagonal leg span, that's how tarantulas are measured). Boris eats a varied diet of insects. I feel 4-5 red runner roaches or a couple of superworms weekly during the warmer months and 4-5 red runners every other week during the cooler months.

This is my loveable Havanese fluff ball, Merlin. He's almost 13 but still basically a puppy & super energetic. He loves people, stuffed toys and shredding paper (including banknotes, which he will take out of people's purses if left unsupervised 😆🤫). He's very playful and hardly ever barks. He's very affectionate, but not much of a snuggler (he's more cat-like in that respect, lol). Like all Havanese he doesn't have an undercoat and doesn't shed (he loses basically the same amount of hair as people do on a daily basis), but his coat does require daily grooming (expertly done by my dad, who cares for him whenever I'm unable to due to health reasons). Even though he looks like a lapdog, he thoroughly enjoys time outdoors, including trekking in the mountains and playing fetch (well, "throw & run" mostly 😆).
I love him more than 99% of people in my life tbh. He's been with me since high school and has seen me through some of the best and worst moments of my life, and I am so attached to him it hurts 🥹
