I have jury duty at p'boro court in March and I've convinced the other half to take me to maidenhead afterwards(we're only 45 mins away). Do you have any cherry shrimp in stock? It'll be hard to look at loads of pretty fish and not be able to buy them all! I need a bigger house so I can get more tanks and more fish! I think my husband regrets buying me a fish last year(look what he's started!), well he has his 1000+ dvds, I think it's only fair I have 1000+ fish LOL.

is it just me who derives some sort of sick pleasure from getting lfs employee's to catch fish that are a right bugger to get??

we usually ask the saturday boy at our lfs to get stuff for us, he just loves Ian so much he always tries for him, quite funny! lol

man i wished in the uk.i wouldnt mind living there just to be able to meet people that like fish as much as i do.around me everyone looks at me like im crazy except for a lfs owner.my nearest aqaurium(AquaZoo)is starting to cnange from a aquarium to a aquarium/fish store but thats a 3 hour drive so it really sucks for me.

It's always fun, unfortunately most are spoilsports who won't catch specific kuhlis for you, even if they are a cool species

Yeah on second thoughts I won't be in when you visit!!
I love catching the hard fish, espically the big fish when it's busy because it's like all the attention is on me when everyone is watching and willing me on to catch them!! (man I need a girlfriend!)

I do, but only if it's the employees with an attitude or who don't know anything, like when I got my Senegalus, the bloke(who I thought was a woman) didn't know what it was and wrote down knife fish and spent about 20 mins trying to catch the smallest, only for me to turn around and say I wanted the larger one

If they have a attitude problem or disrespect me for my age I will purpously go to the tank with the least amount of fish and tell the to catch them all and then say I dont want them. I called a lfs and asked them a question and thye said that he cant talk to me because I am not a regular customer! I am going to make sure I never am a customer there again!!!!!

ha ha glad it's not just us!

we generally only do it to Phil, he's the saturday boy at our lfs, we got him to catch us a load of amano shrimp once and after seeing the trouble he had we always tease him and ask him to catch difficult stuff for us.

Guilty as well. The other week I deliberately waited for the most unhelpful, rude person of an other wise great lfs team to get a lone Sinogastromyzon wui out of a tank full of Beaufortia kweichowensis, if you’ve ever tried to catch hill streams you’ll know what fun it can be.

Glad you enjoyed your trip.

MA @ Peterborough is a great store and I'm lucky to have it as my LFS (well, a 30 min drive). Tim and Steve (manager) are two of the nicest blokes I've met in the business. I was even offered a cup of tea the last time I was there, but "unfortunately" had my wife and 2 year-old daughter in tow.
