[VIDEO] • My roommate’s tank

The water looks milky cloudy, which could be from rotting food and a new filter or colour leaching out of the gravel.
Any idea what the ammonia and nitrite levels are (in numbers)?

A big water change should help clear the cloudy appearance.
Make sure any new water is free of chlorine/ chloramine before it's added to the tank. :)

Nice. Looks like a lot of water flow. I see fish being blown around by the current.
Depends on the fish. Take my current favorite, Panda Garra. They like a high flow and will intentionally swim into the source of the flow and let it bounce them around and then go right back into the flow. On the other hand my previous favorites were rope fish. They want calm water and would not be a good match to go with Pandas.

You can get away with fish that want fast water and those that like calm but you need tall structures in the tank to break the flow for the fish that want calm. The tall structures will cause eddies that will give the ones that like calmer water a break from the flow.

Anyway, nice looking tank. :)

It's not horrible or anything, I just saw that Cory cat getting pushed by the current towards the end. I will say though, plenty of oxygen in that tank.

The water is testing very well. My roommate is experienced and care for the tank attentively.

You should mention to your room mate that these fishes would prefer soft fine sand to large blue chunk where food can hide between sharp pieces of stone.

Btw living near knoxville; your room-mate could pick up some hth pool filter sand for very little $$ to replace that blue stuff.
