As some of you know i run Viviparous.org.uk which is a website dedicated showing what livebearers there are other then just guppies, swords, platies and mollies, Infact their is another 350 species of livebearers around the world.

So ever year i put a display of live fish at the FBAS's festival of fish keeping at Hayling Island last week.

This year we had 17 tanks which all had it own species of fish, we had in total 20 species of fish.
so I've now edited a video clip showing all the fish and what species it is, I've got loads more video clips and will be ading more later.

So here is my clip

Youtube link

Lots of pretty little fish!

I know it is time consuming to edit and load pics. So thanks for feeding my MTS! :hyper:

Nice video

I am pleased to say the fish looked even nicer in the flesh. I went for the weekend this year. It was nice to talk fish with likeminded enthusiasts. I have a few of the species that you had on display as well as a few other unusuals that were not.
One fish I like that i havent seen for years is the Illiodon Zantuzi (excuse spelling of it).
Well done for a very impressive and informative display. :good: :good:
Hope to see you there next year.

I'll correct the spelling ;) Ilyodon xantusi (in latin the x is said as a z, so phonetically your right ;) )

So did you speek to me then, i was the person with no voice.... Just typical a weekend when i can just talk fish my voice went!!!!!
I'll be there next year with even more info i hope and have been asked to put on a Livebearer show how ever I'm not sure if this will happen jew, have to talk to the managers to see what they will want.

Good stuff, never seen most of those fish before! Thanks for the video :)

Hey Alan,

Good news about the fish show, glad to hear the organisers have decided to support the people who support them rather than trying to go elsewhere!!

Ye i now Duncan but will have to find out who to do it, FBAS i'm guessing will want it in classes like FBAS rules but I'm thinking of just one class of just all wild livebearers if i was to do so.

So how would you do it then? All wild fish in together? Or split up a bit with a best fish in show?
I dont know if you saw the killi and catfish shows? They were split up into varieties.
If all the fish were in one single class then some of the fish would not of been on show. The reason for this is because some varieties fair better than others regardless of the standard of fish. This is not through any fault of any judges or favouritism.
The FBAS is very aproachable, I hear next year there is to be a siamese fighter show too.
I hope next year the killi show will have an even better turn out. The BKA registra was present and was keen to see how I show my fish as he had never been to a fish show before (other than the BKA convention). He was that impressed plans to show fish next year. In my eyes this is a good result.
I am sure a wild livebearer show would be an excellent idea!
Let me know how you get on. Have you spoken to Dick Mills at all about this?

Thanks for sharing your video with us, helterskelter I watched it several times and enjoyed it very much.

I've got better video clip to come that whas the first attempt, i lurnt after that that i can zoom in but only before recording so need to edit it as well.

Fishman 1 ye i saw Brian as well there, he's got some stunning fish, I'm lucky as he only live's about 25 miles from me.
As for the show like i said i'll have to talk to the FBAS and sadily i was to bussy to check out the killi show but if i know i would be offered it i would of checked it out more.
