I do not think Vets get taught much about fish. My daughter _ a Vet - phones me for advice when clients brings sick fish in.

She currently has a Koi positively diagnosed with Flukes. I do ot know of an effective cure. can anyone help.

Gill flukes can be treated with a number of things including salt, formalin, malachite green, copper sulphate. However, the safest things to use are Flubendazole or Flubenol.
The entire pond will need to be treated so a proprietary brand pond medication (available from any petshop) might be cheaper, (pond medications being cheaper than aquaiurm medications).

Praziquantel can also be used. Use 100mg of Praziquantel per 20litres of water. Do a 50% water change a couple of days later. Then re-treat the tank a week after that. If the pond water is cold you might need to re-treat the tank each week for a month so all the fluke eggs have hatched and the flukes are killed.
