one of our danios is extreamly skinny compared to the others. any one know any reasons that could cause this.

How long have you had it and is it eating when you feed the rest of the fish? I would say that it is likely a sympton of another problem but without more information it is hard to say what this could be.

What are the water stats (ammonia, nitrite) how long has the tank been set up, how big is it and what else is in there?

Could be the runt of the danios in your tank, and everybody else is just getting more food.

Maybe you should watch to make sure it eats during feeding periods. Maybe it just doesnt eat due to other aggressive fish or disatisfaction of the food.

tanks been set up with fish for 5 months. its prob been in there from start or maby a week or two later. it does eat a bit at feeding time but not near as much as the others. just done a water test. amonia was a bit up, inbetween 0 and 0.25. ph is high but alwas has been the same at 8. expecting that to drop soon as slowly changing over to the tap water here which has a ph of 7. noticed it was skinny a while back so dont think its due to something that changed recently.

amonia between 0 and 0.25
ph 8
nitrite 0
nitrate 10

it slowly geing worse. its so bad now its head is prob wider than the rest of its body. it is still eating a bit. any ideas

cant manage to get a decent photo, ill try get a vido if i can.

hmmm this isn't sounding good... I'd suggest trying to isolate it and feed it high fat and protein meals. Hopfully that will work. If things get any worse then it may actually be time to euthanise the fish unfortunatly, there's only so much you ca do but if the danio is suffering then it's not good. try PMing the-wolf, he may be able to help as he knows alot about danios.

You can buy Parasite Medicated food at petsmart for 6 dollar's. Ohhh, that would be E 3 in the UK right?

I've had a few that have shown the same symptoms,
none responded to any meds, so it is best to euthanaise the fish.

Same thing happens to me. I call it 'Skinnying disease' and now, I only have two zebras. I would add more, but every time the disease gets them.

I have the key, you mean €3. Unfortunately, I don't know the rate of exchange.

one of my zebras is very skinny and i have a extremly fat one and in my plants iv spotted a few baby zebras

I think that the other dani is racing to the top eating all the food before the other one gets a chance, if I'm correct try sprinkling food in 2 spots! One spot for the other danio and the other spot for the skinny danio!

It could also be a disease! Like jourdy288 said, it could be a skinnying disease! When this happens don't add any more fish! In honesty if it is a parasite he has the other one will catch it sooner or later! You need to go to your local fish store and tell them about your danio and they should get you medicine for the fish. That said, you may have to look around the shop for it because fish stores will sell you anything! They have really bad advice
