:( Can anyone help? I have two dwarf plecs in my tank and within the last couple of days I notice that they are not hidding themselves as they would do normally, but looking very poorly on the bottom of the tank (not in hiding). One of them is worse than the other - loosing his lovely dark colour to a very 'orangey' pale brown colour, limp and cant be bothered .. the other still is lovely and dark brown but is heading the same way (behaviour wise). I have done a particial change to water (ph fine), the tank has not been my main priority lately (im being honest here), wont go into details.. Anyway, can anyone help - I am continuing with particial water changes and treating the water with a 'Recovery' aid, having removed my carbon media from filter - thank you

Im not much more than a newbie, so sorry, cant be much help to you

Just wanted to say each time I post here about ill fish, the first thing people will ask you is about your water readings. If you have tests and can post amonia, nitrIte, nitrAte and maybe temp Im sure this would help one of the more experienced members to give you good and speedy advice

sorry I cant help more, good luck

Are these the only fish in the tank? If not, are they the only ones that are ill? Have you given the bottom a good vac? The plecs spend a great deal of time there and if they are the only ones that have symptoms then i would suspect the bottom needs a clean. HTH :)

Do you know what type of 'dwarf' plec they are??

The loss of colour is highly likely to be due to stress... is your heater ok? sudden change in temps can cause problems suddenly.

is your filter overly clogged (eg not filtering) may be the case if its been left for a while.

Its a good thing that you've noticed there is a problem.

As you have already done - a water change and an hour of TLC may well get to the bottom of it.
