Very Shy Clown Loach

Thank you so much for all your help guys! They all seem to be doing much better!

I have also introduced one more (very slightly bigger but utterly more confident) clown loach into the tank, which has encourged both the brave and the shy one to come out more! The other two are still very much evening and night time chaps, but they are eating well (the pellets have gone down a treat as the tubby zebras spit them out!) and even put on a bit of weight. A bit of live blood worm in there got them foraging too, which was great to see. Everybody seems to like the cucumber.

Tonight all three clowns are swimming together round the tank. The shy one's colouring has bloomed - he's lost that washed out look and he's burrowed under the bog wood tonight to make himself new entrances and exits to what appears to now be "Chez Loach". :)

I have the same issue in my freshwater tank. I have two Plateys and half a dozen guppies. One of the Plateys is brave and the other one has been named "Heidi" or more accurately "Hidey"... ;) It spends the whole time hiding down the back underneath my plants behind the large plastic decoration. Whenever I fed the fish, the guppies and the big platey would get all the flake as it floated on the surface and Hidey never got any.

What I did was just drop the flake at the back of the tank where the filter spits the water back into the tank and it all got washed straight down to the bottom and circulated underwater. Hidey got more than his (or her) fair share this way. The guppies have adapted now and chase it around the bottom and clean up any that sink to the gravel. It all still gets eaten but is more sport for the fish now.

Didn't need to resort to pellets and all is well again.

Cheers,
Michael
