Very quick question about a branch

I stated earlier in another thread that I scavenged a few pieces of drift wood today. I soaked them for a couple of hours in scalding hot water in the tub.
One piece of wood has a few twigs on it that I wish to keep attached. A lot of the twigs are broken at the end and they have a 'meaty' part inside, as most twigs from various plants do. The entire piece of wood is dead and completely brown and brittle. I was wondering if the meaty center of the twigs and branches were going to harm the tank.

most likely not. Where did you find the driftwood?

I found the wood on a river bank.

as long as you boiled it it should be fine. If anything, it will tint your water a little bit. Good luck with it.
