Ok, to start off, I'm a Betta person :p And I've never owned Guppies.

I was at a Betta club meeting yesterday, and I won the raffle for a 10 gallon set-up. I was like, yesss, more Bettas! A friend from the club then approached me asking if I'd take 5 Guppy babies for the tank... and I could not resist. They're so cute! They are all from fancy, show parents, and they're half black half yellow. Their color is definitely not completely in.

All 5 look similar, under 1" and about the size of my 1 1/2 month-old Betta fry. I would guess they might be 8-10 weeks old? I e-mailed the breeder to ask her exactly how old they are & I'm waiting for a reply. The large one, I'm unsure if that was a female or just a bigger juvie, but he/she unfortunately died on the way home :( it looked very stressed out, they were all 5 in one bag together. I *really* hope the remaining 4 are 1 male and 3 girls, what should I look for as they grow up? I will try to get pics soon, they are sooo tiny and cute, definitely Deltas.

Also, how does this set-up sound? If I do get fry, they will be moved to a seperate fry tank, of course.

*10 gallons
*Top Fin 10 Power Filter w/ filter sponge reducing the current.
*Neptune 50w heater
*Very fine natural gravel, or sand, substrate. (I love sand, but I hate hate cleaning it)
*Water Sprite
*Java Moss
*Java Ferns & Anarchis... maybe Amazon Sword?
*Some kind of driftwood or cave

These guppy fry arent all siblings are they? If they do inbreed you can get fry with some messed up problems that probably wont survive long. They sound like they will be pretty though. Although females tend to not be as color ful as males, and are usually dark grey/greenish in color.

Yes, they are siblings. ^_^ The breeder told me they'd be fine breeding amongst each other, because the parents were not siblings and the line is healthy. I know Bettas can be linebred for several generations with no signs of deformities, is it the same with Guppies?

I really have no idea whether the remaining 4 are females or males. They're all about the same size, and I don't see any sign of gonopodiums. =P I actually hope they are all girls, I'd rather buy 1 unrelated male once they're older.
