Once the new 180l tank is cycled, I will be adding in my existing fishes. But I'd also like something very colourful, but that will co-exist well in a commnuity tank.

Ph around 7 - 7.5. Hard water. 25-28 celcius. Bogwood and heavy plants for shade.

The tank has a silica sand substrate and is very heavily planted, has under-substrate heating, Ph controller linked to cylinger-CO2. The fishes that will be in there are:

* clown loaches
* dwarf gouramis
* zebra danios
* guppies
* platies
* ghost fish/indian cat fish
* and some ottos will be added to hoover up the algae.

Uhm. Yellow Labs are pretty cool and pretty colourful. As are Show Guppies, don't know much about compatability or whether they would be right for the environment, but it's something to research.

Hi,

Cardinal tetras and rummy nose tetras are colourful and shoal well. I'd give the clown loaches a miss unless you plan to upgrade in future as they grow 12" long and will out grow the tank. Zebra loaches would be a good alterative as they only grow 4". If you want a really colourful tank you could get cichlids.

Afraid Yellow labs won't go in a community tank of this typ; they need to be in a dedicated Malawi setup.

There are many types of colorful species of rainbow fish that would do well in a community type setup. But, it would probably be a better idea to go for adaquate numbers of what you have rather than a spattering of many different species. Perhaps increase your danio school, or get another trio of platies. I prefer setups with 3-4 species maximum, but that's just my opinion.

If I knew exactly how many of each type you had, it would be easier to give a recommendation.

Are these 2 all ready together? Be careful with these 2 together. Zebra Danios do not like fancy, long, flowing tails. If they have short tails or are females they should be OK.
