Venturi?

hey guys how would i attach a venturi tube onto a standard external canister filter? and are they powered by a standard air pump? dont know much about them tbh but would like to have a nicely oxygenated tank.

what external filter do you have?

well i am looking at a new filter as my original external had packed up....(story in a previous thread) and am swaying towards a fluval 305 liked the spray bars bit like the idea of water flowing out with bubbles in it to oxygenate the water cuz i cant imagine a bar doing that would it? i havent got any experience so i wouldnt know tbh lol useless i know!!!

spray bar best to use with the external filter to oxygenate water
surface agitation is most important than anything when providing oxygen

so is like airstones you are wanting to use to provide the rising bubble affect in water??
or what is it your after exactly?

well ive got a back up filter atm which is a internal pf3 interpet jobby and on the top it had a seesaw type lever were if it open it kind of sucks air into it and when the water shoots outta the out flow obviously theres lots of small bubbles floating around the tank where the water is directed want a similar effect or something like that....was also looking at bubble wals but just dunno tbh

best is to use spraybar and use an aircurtain at the back if you'd like it has a nice affect imo

You could use something like the Eheim diffuser (about half way down this page). It just replaces the spray bar on the end of the return hose and it uses the venturi effect to suck air from atmosphere and mix it with the water flow. No air pump required. In my experience the surface agitation is about the same as using a spray bar, depending on how you angle the outlet of course.
