i recentlet posted a topic because my fish had the shimmies, but it turnt out it didnt have it and stopped doing it. now i have seen my fish doing it again and im fairly sure it has early stages of velvet disease. i am going to my lfs in about 3 hours time. can anyone recommend a good treatment to use? i live in the uk :)

Signs of velvet are -
Yellow golden spots.
Gold dusting on fish body.
Rusty coloured varnish on fish body.
Sometimes in can also look like the fish has been dusted in talc.
Flicking and rubbing.
Maybe also signs of darting, laboured breathing.

Turn tank lights out and shine a torch on the fish to see if you can see any
golden patches, or golden yellow spots.

Make sure the fish do have velvet before you treat.
There anti velvet by interpet, also waterlife meds.

Get you some info on velvet.

the last fish i put in the tank was a big 8 inch full size parrot fish. i got it for 20 quid. now i know why lol. i did a 50 percent water change, added some plants and rocks, doesnt look how i want it but i crafted it with the fish in mind. lots of caves and diff territories, the fish look happier than ever and are feeding well. also now the holpo catfish really like the cave i made for them so they are being less messy in the sand and my water is crystal clear which will help them along there itchy recovery :)

Velvet far worse than whitespot. Also can take longer to eradicate.

GLad to hear the fish seem happy.

Good Luck.

Is it possible to load a pic onto the site of the fish that still has the velvet.

Can you describe the symptoms the fish is showing still?

Yeah il get a photo up soon after work. No symptoms other than visual. E.g the gold patches and spots

If all other fish are fine apart from one I would move the sick fish to an isolation tank and only treat that fish now. As if you been using the medication for weeks the fish need a break.

Do you have an isolation tank?

I do have an isolation tank but i dont have a spare filter. And i havent uploayed a picture because i know its velvet and i forgot to mention it did spread to three platies but they are fine now. Ive got a 60 litre tank cycled up and tunning with nothing but 3 flying foxes in but for a ten inch parrot fish i think moving it to a tank with a different ph,gh, ect and to a tank that small would be a bad idea? Too stressful. Apologies for spelling. I usually use my phone and it spazzes out when i try correct it

How many courses of medication have you done now?
What is the brand name of the medication?
