got up this morning and the veiltails I put in a breeding tank were beating each other up. now they have just paired up and I know they can fight, but I really thought they'd kill eachother so put them in the community tank to let them rest. and as a result they spawned tonight, surprised due to there condition.

anyway the eggs are moved and they will go back to there breeding tank in the morning, however is there anything I can do to get them back into condition. both of them have damage to there eyes, tails tore and body attacked. will get pics in the morning but i'm worried there sight will be affected. going to keep taking there eggs away until they are fit to raise young (they may be at the moment, not sure. just want them healthy again)

Keep them in the same tank, but divided, until you see tubes down. Pull the divider when they are ready to spawn. When you are ready to pull the spawn, place an object just like they spawned on in front of the spawn, then pull the spawn, odds are they will continue to fan the new object.

Sometimes pulling the spawn causes a lover's quarrel. Breeding fish are not show fish by any means, it is common to have torn fins & missing scales on many pairs. For some reason I've found blacks are more prone to this, gotten stock from different sources, with often the same results. Aggression is something that needs to be taken into account when breeding angels, I just had the same thing happen today with a new pair of black super veils. Pulled a spawn last night, beat up female this evening. If they don't behave they get sold, I've sold several pairs of blacks over the years where the male is a wife beater.

Daily 50% water changes will heal them faster than anything. Watch a diet that is too high in protein, unless you jack the temperature you risk constipation issues.

thanks, oops never thought of that as I always let my other pair raise there young. I just pulled the filter out and left it at that. they are still in the community tank so hopefully that will keep them in check but will move them today. If they do continue to fight i'll up the divider in, moving them yet again might help with that. the annoying thing is I said to my partner they were going to spawn but decided there health was more important and moved them. was looking forward to seeing if they could raise there own young. guess there is next time.

lol will be angels everywhere as I also think my other pair will spawn today
