Hi, I have a kinda odd question. My Dwarf Gourami has always been very happy and healthy. He has never bothered any of my plants in my aquarium. (Its fully planted). Suddenly last week I saw him nibbling on my moneywort leaves. In a week he has deleaved about 8 plants. Now I just have green twigs standing up. :) Is there anyway to get him not to eat my plants? I put bottom feeder plant disks in for the fish and he goes after those with gusto. I can toss in 5 in the evening and they are gone the next morning, of course my Corys help out on the disks, but lord that Gourami grazes the tank like a little bovine.

He also seems to be nibbling algae lately also.

So, any suggestions would be helpful, even if you could offer a type of plant that Gouramis don't like to chow on.

Gouramies will rip plants up and use the floating bits to stick a bubble nest in. But they do like pleco food. Mine eat it too and my bristlenoses have to fight them off their food some evenings. Try floating plants in the tank and grasses. Grasses grow fast and can cope with being nibbled at.
If he really wants to eat more veggies then just be sure to supply enough for him and the others. It certainly won't harm him in any.
Hugs,
P.
