Hi - I got some juv severums last week (~1.5 inch) and they look happy in my 120g. They LOVE frozen bloodworms. Amazing how fast these little guys learn - just three days in the tank and they are already coming to the front and begging for food whenever I come close.

I guess I should also feed them some vegetables, but have no idea how. I tried blanched lettuce and frozen peas last night, but the lettuce is still floating around this morning. They didn't touch the peas either.

Can anybody please advise - what vegetables do you feed sevs, and how exactly do you do it?

Thanks!

Might take them a while to catch onto the veg thing, keep trying, the peas and the lettuce should be good. Cucumber is good, you will need to weight it down with a spoon or something similar.

Thanks...will try. Do you cut/dice it or just give them a chunk to nib?

I have a sev, along with silver dollars and a gibby, all love veggies! I feed them peas, cucumber, courgette, lettuce, squash, pumpkin, potato, parsnip, carrot, anything really!

Peas need to be cooked, (and cooled) then just de shell them, and squish the middle bit in your fingers and place in tank.

Lettuce sinks once par boiled or blanched, or just rinse well and use a lettuce clip (from your lfs) I leave the leaves whole for them to nibble on.

The rest of the veg is best blanched first, then it sinks. I tend to peel then chop up a load, blanch it, and stick it in the freezer in fishy sized portions. (pumpkin can be frozen straight without boiling). Then you can just let one bit defrost and chuck it in. Best of in small chunks, and anything not eaten in 24hrs needs to be removed.

Try anything basically, and try it more than once as it may take them a few goes to realise it's food!

HTH, let us know how it goes!

Thanks so much PM! I almost gave up on it but will keep trying as you suggested. Hope they'd eventually get it...
