I have more fish but i cant seem to get decent shots of them cos either they swim too fast to get a good shot or they hide when i take out the camera ..... :grr:

dunno about amateur...some of this pics are superb  .

Some lovely fish you have yourself there scrappy.

wow you have some really great piccies there !

The Black Phantom Tetra picture is excellent! And the picture of the dwarf Gourami is good too, really shows its patterns.

Your fat clown loach is so cute (please don't be offended by me calling it fat!).

The other pictures are excellent, I wouldn't have guessed you were an amateur photographer by any means :D

sweet pitures.. look like the ones in the books... by any chance have you taken for fish books? (lol) i love all of your fish...

No offence taken, i know hes fat (its cos hes generally greedy and eats more than the others). Would be nice to make an online encyclopedia of freshwater fish, sometimes you get the odd question from people asking what type of fish is this and requests from new fishkeepers about what fish to stock as some prolly dont have a huge choice from their lfs and sometimes dont see the types of fish we are sometimes discussing.

Oh and thanks for the compliments, its not easy taking pictures of fish, i think someone once said that some of the best pics are of fish in the background of the one your trying to take a pic of... Its very true at times.

ps. i dunno if anyone noticed the sparkling gourami swimming with the dwarf gourami... difficult fish to catch on cam as they tend to hide a lot and are pretty shy fish. Im still yet to get a few of my fish on cam.

that emperor tetra is beautiful of love those guys! i have the pleasure of owning one of them! and he is a lot of fun! :D

Cool pics man. What's the fish in the last pic?

Amateur?!?! What the heck are you talking about! Those are stunning pics and stunning fish. I love the black phantom in the 2nd pic.

Although the last pic doesnt really show the fish too well, its a Pakistani Loach (commonly reffered to as the YoYo Loach), hes quite lively and doesnt stay still unless hes lying on his side on a leaf and hes a bit more leaner (skinnier and streamlined) in comparison to the more common Botia species like the Clown Loach. The Pakistani Loach tends to hang round with my Microsynodontis Polli catfish (a small 2" chocolate brown catfish with cream bands over his nose and back, who i aint been able to get a shot of). He tends to wriggle his way into seemingly impossible gaps and chill out

And for those of you who have complimented me on that Black Phantom shot, it was probably the easiest one to take in retrospect, i was lucky cos he was just hovering outside the cave entrance that time and didnt bother to move even when i placed the camera lens right up to the glass. Most of the other shots were the best of about 150 pics i took and most are taken about 1ft away from the glass to try and catch the fish without scaring them off by coming right up to the glass.

All the pics were taken with a Sony Cybershot DSC P10 5mp digital cam. And due to the tiny delay between pressing the button and the pic actually being taken (as is the case with most digital cams unless your using SLR digital) a lot of shots were ruined by the fish moving swimming out of veiw or out of focus :( You can use a fair amount of "colourful" language when taking pics of live swimming fish :hey:

very nice pics , nice collection of fish as well ............... :)
