A few months ago my molly gave birth and i managed to resuce 6 or 7 fry from the tank, they were put into another tank (my fry tank) with my guppy fry thaqt were born a few weeks before, all seemed ok, the guppies got sold and replaced with more guppy fry last week, now i only seem to have one molly fry left. I'm not sure what happened, i think one of them had a claped tail fin so i expected him to die but the others all seemed ok until they vanished.

I now have 10 new molly fry (born this morning) which i have put in the big (double) breeding net in the big tank, i'm worried if i put them in the fry tank they will disapear like the others.

The fry tank is around 40-45 ltr, has one real plant and one orniment (a bridge) so not a huge amount of places they could hide or get stuck.

Older fry eating the younger fry is what it sounds like to me

The mollys were all there until the 2nd lot of guppy fry went in (bigger ones where moved before they disapeared) so the mollys were the biggest fry in the tank. Maybe there were something wrong with them as one had the clamped fin?

Should i just keep these new ones in the net for a few weeks until they are big enough to go back into the big tank? its well planted so they can hide from the bigger mollys.

Have you checked the filter ??

As one of my Molly fry got sucked up in my external luckily enough I noticed it was missing an looked in the filter and it was swimming around in the canister. Now it stays clear of my intake pipe lol

Checked the filter yesterday ut couldn't find anything ut it could have een the filter. Have now put some tights ver it to stop the othe fry getting sucked in.

Is there grvel in the bottom of the fry tank. And I know this sounds stupid but when my molly fry died they turned transparent.

That could be it then, i have white and blue gravel so it would be hard to see them.

Will keep a close eye on the new ones, i am now cycling another tank and will keep it plain (without gravel) just for the molly fry.
