Just some pictures so you can see my part of the world....This is Mt. Arrowsmith, my favourite of the mountains surrounding the valley in which I live

This is my favourite lake in the valley. It's called Sproat Lake and it's over 21 miles long, with lots of different arms, sprinkled with tiny explorable islands. Many people live on it year round, many more summer there, and countless people camp, boat, kayak, and fish there during the summer. There is a big water skiing school on the lake, and there are big water skiing and wakeboarding competitions there in the summertime that draw competitors from all over.

Pacific Rim National Park, commonly called Long Beach, about 90 minutes of windy mountain road from here....

Umm.. forgive me for not knowing... but the only ones I know of for sure are rainbow trout. I don't know what else people catch in Sproat Lake. :X

BEE-YOO-TEE-FULL!!!! I have been there about 7 times......have you been to Top Bridge? Super Cool!

This is around Stamp Falls on the Stamp River. The Stamp River flows into the inlet on which my town is located. It's a beautiful place to hike, camp, picnic, fish, or take pictures.

That last pic is really cool. I would like to hike in there and camp. How cool would that be to be able to do that?

Where's Top Bridge, freshmike? I may have some hickspeak local yokel term for it. lol

 It's very cool to camp and hike in there, smb. (sorry for the million posts, I'm multi tasking and evidently I'm not good at it... lol @ that coming from an office manager).

The island is rich with wildlife... if you camp in the woods, you're pretty much in the wilderness around here. In my own back yard, visitors include a family of raccoons, a family of three deer, red headed woodpeckers, blue jays, occasional bald eagles, owls, rabbits, and at this time of year, a black bear and her two year old cub (they come for leftover apples and pears).

smb has turned himself into quite the Vancouver Island professional!!!

I am trying to remember some of the other cool places we went there, we did ALOT of hiking though!!!!!
