Valliserna Jungle

great looking tank. All that valis looks great/

Cheers :)

How does this acclimation unit work?

Just from a biological perspective, the only thing you can really attempt to 'aclimate' fish for, is temperature (over the short time period). Any chemical/pH/density etc. differences will not have theri effect until a few hours at least (probably days).

Just wondering what the aclimators claims are, if it is a true aclimation unit, that would be awesome, and should be massively advertised!

I'll Get some Pix soon.
The Shrimp have been very Busy. Alot More Active then other shrimp i have had. Always Out and About cleaning stuff and picking bits of plants.

The Freebie Cichlid is very unusual, never seen a cichlid that only grazes on plant matter and algae. Didn't take any pellets or spirulina. Its just been grazing on the vallis all evening.

The Acclimator works by floating in the tank.
It has a Diaphragm in one corner and this slowly lets water into the box and makes acclimating alot easier.
You can drain water out by simply lifting it up if you want to take longer acclimating the fish. and the water drains out from the fabric part.

Stang Thanks, The Little Guy has been ID'd as a Kopembwa (Tropheus moorii). Very Interesting to watch, like an aquatic sheep.

Also Tetra Plant gro, Kicks in real fast 2 days after starting the dosing. The Plants have gone bananas, all the hair grass has shot up and gone bushy and so have the other emersed plantas i got.

Will Get Some Pix tommorrow

Thanks for that Gill and glad you managed to ID him!
He's been in that tank for so long and we'd no idea what he was. I'm just glad he's gone to agood home. ;)

Update,
The HC I got from an UKAPS member has been eaten by the fish and snails (Ohwell)
The Dwarf Platties have not dropped yet and they look like they are gonna Pop.
The Flags have been spawning Every Morning when the Lights go on.
Danios Spawn Everywhere
Pygmy Cories have settled in well, only catch glimpses of them everynow and then in the hairgrass. Which Is what i wanted, A tank where the Fish blend in and you catch glimpses of them.

I have to do some replanting in the morning, as something has been uprooting the Vallis and Hairgrass and lots of it is floating.

Wow Gill it's absolutely stunning
I love the way your tanks always look so natural, and it's nice that you have filled a large tank with small fish. It's the kind of tank where fish spawn without you really knowing, until you see the odd fry swimming around amongst the plants :)

Thanks Geo, Really Appreciate the Comment.

I love how it looks. And after a hard day i can just cabbage in front of it and watch everything interacting with the scape.
I love watching while having breakfast asn thats when the most fo the spwning happens.

I get to watch the fish as natural as possible. I like having to look for the fish and catching a glimpse of something lurking in the hairgrass. My Rams are pretty reclusive, and i really only see them when 2 males meet and square off against each other. and they strutt there stuff, and the vitor parades around and slinks off back into his territory.
Waiting for fish to arrive in stores has been the hardest part. I have been waiting for the Threadfin Rainbows to come in and @ a Decent Price, They are sooooooooooooooo Nice to watch darting in and out of the planting and falring off at each other and zooming around like Birds.
( I hope to achieve somethng like this with the pond)
How the livebearers choose a quiet corner or hidey hole to drop the fty and make sure the males have been made to stay away untill they are welcome again. The Heterandria Formosa have become alot bolder even though they are sooo tiny.
Its great to watch them in the Java Fern and when they venture out into the Vallis Jungle(the male Always keeping at a distance from the female but still being wary of the larger more colorful fish(he sees as Suitors)).

Yep Finding Fry Swimming around in the floating Riccia and Loose Plants is great. lots of mixed fry in there ATM and i know i have some Formosa Fry swimming around.

Just gonna go downstairs and watch them for an hour or so now. :)

Some Newer Pix of the Jungle.
Trimmed a few plants and moved some around.
