Hi there, now this is an odd one, but, seeing as vallis grows by runners anyway, would it be possible to grow it tied onto wood? I'm not taking up in the water column, but lower down, near the substrate?

Has anyone tried this? Might it work, or woul the plant simply not be able to get enough nutrients?

Cheers.

i left some vallis floating and it grew surprisingly well, so it might grow on wood if you can attach it well.

Cheers! I shall have to experiment with it... I just want something long leaved to go right at the back of an 18" deep tank (but I have a very thin layer of sand - though I am contemplating adding more...

I have a friend who did this, not with vallis but with dwarf sag (which has the same effect) - she superglued it to the wood and it's gone nuts. Not what I would've done, but she loves it.

Almost all of my vallis grows above the substrate on top of rocks I placed for my Kuhli's, They love living in amongst the roots.
I would have thought it would grow well on wood.

Here is a pic of my Vallis

Thanks all!!

I will give it a try :) - now to hunt down some vallis that will grow in my tank :)

Give me a couple of days and i will no doubt have some you can have if you cover postage.
I will be thinning out and rearranging some of mine to fill the gaps and will have some spare :)
