Valentine X Candi

all of a sudden she changed, well after 12 hours.. Now she'll go up to him and flare, still a tad bashful. Loves checking out the nest. I'm going to leave them in overnight (7 1/2 hours) since I really doubt they'll kill each other, if they've been fine the last half a day. Should be eggs in the morning.. wish me luck...

They were fine tonight but still no eggs. Absolutely annoying...24 hours in the tank and they haven't bred? Gah. I guess more conditioning is in order.

Dont re condition just yet i have had pairs spawn after 2-3 days

Ahh okay...
Should I just leave them in the tank? To be frank I'm not at all worried about them killing each other, I probably should be, but there isn't even any fighting - just a little bit of chasing, mostly caused by the flighty female.

How do you tell if eggs are in the nest?

yeah its not very often there MEGA mean so if you feel comfortable leave them ;)

errm if you look under the nest and shine a bright light youll see the little white dots :)

On my first spawining it didn't happen for 3-4 days. I too was worried about them killing each other and practialy sat up with them for 3 nights, yawwwwwnnnnn. She had little place she could hide if she felt threatened at all and in the end it was fine,, even though they ate all the eggs. On the next spawing they were ok together and i didn't sit up with them all night this time,, and I now have 3 babies as I didnt get out of tank quite soon enough and he started to gobble them up.

Good Luck :good:

I honestly don't get these fish! When she's in the chimney, she's flaring and hot #@$&, but when she's out she's terrified at even the sight of the male. :shout:
