V2 400 Skimmer

Hi all,

I've had my skimmer setup for about 6 weeks now and it seems to be working fine. However i've noticed that the bubble trap overflows, any ideas?

Also can i fill the bubble trap with different media types such as rowaphos? If so what would you recommend as the method of doing so. It currently has a black filter (the original) in there so I assume you would need to cut this?

Hi Jimmy
I have the same skimmer (very good IMO)
The bubble stop should have a filter floss/pad in its base (white)
I remove this and replace with a completely new pad each week

cut to size to fit into the BS base
as for the black sponge I just rinse this out in waterchange water weekly
towards the end of the week the water level in the BS will rise again and the pad will need changing
I'm now using a Phosban 150 reactor for my Rowaphos but I use HR Activated Carbon in a bag in the BS

The hose is about half way in so not too far!

You can do but it gets a little crowded in there especially if you want to use HR Carbon as well.
There are two bubblestops made by TMC a large one and a small one. I dont know which one I have but if its small you can order a large one seperately which may be better for the media housing

I'm not sure which one i have either. It's fairly big at probably 8cm across and 10-12cm deep off the top of my head.

Good call on the white floss below - was all dirty so have rinsed it off until new ones arrive.

I don't think I'll be usign carbon and might just stick a bit of rowaphos in there to help with the phosphates!

ah - big one must be large!

So you run the white flos at the base and rowaflos? What about the shaped black sponge where the outlet points into...??

i use a polyfilter in my v2 bubble stop and change it every 2 weeks
