I keep having a problem with cloudy water so my question is should a uv sterilizer help clear up the cloudiness. Also what kind of sterilizer would be good for a 36g tank. I am looking at a Coralife Turbo-Twist 3X 9 Watt Aquarium UV Sterilizer, or a jebo UV Sterilizer POND AQUARIUM 11 Watt New w/ Bulb in box and have no idea what wattage should be. my last question is do most peoplwe with planted tanks use uv sterilizers?

If the cloudiness you are referring to is green, then a UV should clear it up.

I have a UV that came with the filter on one of my tanks, but I never use it really. There is no real need for one in a planted tank specifically, that I can think of.

I dont know what to do because I blacked out the tank and that cleared it up for a day and now it is still coudy so I am not sure what to do sometimes it is green and sometimes lokks like a bacterial bloom but wont go away.

Could be a bacterial bloom of some sort, if your tanks new.. could be "new tank syndrom"

Cloudy is much different then green water

SOmeone on here said that they bought a few freshwater clams/mussels, and that they cleared the green water in a week. If you want to do this, return the clams after, or they'll most likely starve.

UV is the better option, you'll have it forever, and once the clams take everything from the water they can starve to death.

Does anyone know if most uv sterilizers blue intake and output connectors will fit on the output hose of fluval 205's.

So I read aboout jebo and saw that it was a piece of junk so I am thinking of going with the submariner which is an in tank uv sterilizer that has its own pump.
