Just been looking at these really nice moonlight lamps on ebay that have 3 colours in them and claim to be UV sterlisers aswell? Do they really work? Or am I better off buying a proper UV sterliser?

A link might help. However, if they are just lights that shine into the tank, they can't really be usefull for sterilizing, or they would damage your fish. My UV filter has warnings about the bulb damaging your eyes if you look at it when it is on - that is why true UV filters totally enclose the bulb, and pump water through that enclosure.

They don't work as sterilizers. As smmetz said, true UV sterlizers can damage your eyes.

I would imagine it would work as a moonlight, but a sterilizer no. It would be way too bright and you would be unable to look at it.
