Anyone had sucess with this ?

My Severum developed Ich 2 weeks after adding him to my tank. I added Coppersafe yesterday. Today he is staying behind a large ornament on the bottom of the tank. He comes out now and then but only for a minute. I am thinking he may have somthing else as well. The Coppersafe directions said to use in conjunction with Maracyn. Maracyn-2, or Maracyn Plus. I went to store and bought Maracyn-2. I wasn't sure which one to get. One treats gram positive and the other gram negative. I had to guess. He is scratching on the gravel and doing funny things with his mouth. I think it may be his gills.

Another problem is I vacuumed all the gravel and did a water change prior to meds. Now I am showing a little less than .25 ammonia and nitrite. My tap water has 3.0 mg/l of ammonia in it. Usually not a problem as my beneficial bacteria takes care of it. I am thinking it is from the meds. If these levels rise I could use spring water I have, BUT it is of a higher PH. What would you do ???

I did use some Prime and Stress coat. Also added 5 tblsp. salt (75 gal. tank)

Coppersafe treats flukes as well so I should be safe there if that is what it is.

He is sitting at bottom upright with his fins close to his side. I have to look at his gills to see if he is still alive :(

I tested water again and the nitrite is back to 0

It meant be the whitespot affecting the gills.
Gill lfukes the gills will look red inflamed or pale with excess mucas on them.

Any time I use antibiotics I do a 50% water change daily, and remed. This way there are no cycling problems, as many antibiotics will at least damage, if not eliminate the nitrifying bacteria in your filter. This is also the reason I med in a smaller tank, if the ailing fish is/are in a larger tank.

You can use Coppersafe & Maracyn II together without any problem.

I do have a hospital tank but it is a bit too small for him. Since treating Ick I figured the whole tank needed treating. After putting in the Maracyn he seemed to perk up a bit. He came out and ate too. I am feeding very lightly. Then he goes back to hiding. It seems he is very tired and can only swim around for a short while before retreating back to his spot. Is this normal ? How many days do I wait for improvement before going to another method ? Y'all are awesome in helping me with this stuff. I am so worried about my Bubba. If you only knew what I went thru to make a comfortable home for him. I bought another tank to move incompatible fish to etc. So sad :(
