Using Different Water

hi,
My tapwater is awful, ph is 8.2 ....gh 19 dgh....kh 9 dkh,what i was wondering is my brother lives in same town,but has a different water supplier.His ph is 7.4 not sure of gh/kh.He has kept fish for years with no problem.Could i use his water,gradually adding to my tank ?

Get some Malawi they would definitly take exception to you calling that water "awful" altho it a bit extreme on the hard side

EDIT: depending on your tank size.... LOL
