We are currently revising the filtration on some of our tanks and want big units turning over lots of water for our plecos. There is nothing we can currently buy that would be suitable and already have some 3000L/h wavemakers for the tanks.

We are thinking of encasing these to make them function like powerheads in a filter but are not sure of the best way to go about this. Any ideas?

Got a picture of the wavemaker, especially where the water comes in? Make & model may help as well.

It's this one:

We did manage to figure it out, we used drainage pipe and siliconed that onto the front, as it intakes water from behind the wider spaced front section, and then used that within a casing being fed from the filter. The filter is a big storage box with vents all around, then sponges getting progressively coarser towards a central chamber, which is filled with plastic scourers, there is a acrylic plate overlying this with holes only over the central chamber. The idea is to force the water through all of the sponges in order and then it can only be fed to the pump once it's passed through all the media.

It's not very pretty but it'll be well hidden.

We're now looking to use powerheads to power an internal sump-type filter within our 8ft tank .... this should work but just need to figure out how to place the baffles now ...
