If this isn't in the right place, please move it.
You know those ceramic rings that plants in Lfs often come in, I used to throw them away.
I found a new use for them, they're great for growing algae on for shrimp, or Oto's or any algae eater.
I left some in a bowl in the kitchen & within a few days they were green with algae

Ooh, good idea!

I recently needed some moss mesh, but rather than pay prices online, I cut up one of those blue mushroom boxes. Worked a treat!

On the theme of useless objects...

an empty 100ml Cuticura ( hand hygene gel ) bottle makes a perfect fluidised carbon particle filter :)

The blue plastic top has a see-saw opening lid that once you pop the lids see-saw section off, you'll find a hole that PERFECTLY fits an airline 90 degree connector so you can easily feed it air. Drilling numerous 1mm holes in t hebottle shoulder and a similar number on it's base then flipping it upside down.. gives the carbon a great vessel to move about in :) Drill a small hole to push a sucker onto it's back and then quarter fill the bottle with carbon media like Seachem Carbon MAtrix.. and hey ho it's off you go :)

Oh, the bottle labelling peels off very easily and leaves NO residue or sticky mess.

Cleaned up my little Fluval Chi's water in less than a day.
