just went in this afternoon fish looked poorly..still got girl bettas with white spot and very stripey...chap said we put meds in water saturday so they will be ok....got 2 boys in traps one blue and one red .blue looked ok red looked mopey...chap said think he is sulking...had him about a week now he looked so sad....but I didnt get him useless shop,

Nothin new about that.
I think our local Petsmart takes about as much care for their fish as the actual LFS... a place you would think would take better care of their fish.
But nope... you go in there and look into their tanks.. you'll see what you would see at any large chain petstore... dead or dieing fish, dyed fish, poor 16inch pleco stuck in a tiny 15gallon tank.... and of course... bettas in teeny little bowls.....
I will give our LFS one plus.. they keep their plants snail free.

my lfs don't even do that (snails)....I said to the chap yesterday these bettas are quite old aren't they? He said well we got them from a uk breeder so they probably are...someone will buy them and they wont last long.

You want to see the stats of the fish near me at pets at home. I wouldn't touch them again. Quite discusted with it.

Finrot, whitespot, upto 5 dead fish in most tanks. Horrible to see.

The Petsmart that's around here is pretty bad with their fish. LOTS of dead and dieing fish in their tanks... and their poor bettas aren't any better off.
The males are stuck in these little cubby things above the main tanks... most of their cubbys have poop and uneaten food just sitting on the bottom rotting.
They also have those cups that have their female bettas in and the CT males.
I was looking through them, wishing my tank was already cycled so I could rescue some when I picked up one female container. BF kinda Oo'ed b/c she was white, but I soon informed him it was only b/c she was dead. Little bits of her were already floating around in the container

There is a Petsmart that's further away in a richer part of town. Their fish tanks were REALLY nice and clean. No dead or dieing fish to be seen. But they still kept their poor bettas in those aweful cups. They stacked them one right on top of the other.

Just makes me so sad that alot of these fish will never have a chance at being in a good environment.

my lfs takes very good care of their fish no dead or dieing fish no dyed fish non of that. the only bad thing is they have like 4-5 oscars, 3 silver dollars and a big tinfoil in a 25g tank. the bettas are kept in 10g tanks with a few other fish. there is a pet store a bit further up and the staff cant tell the difference between male and female platys and swordes.
