I was looking around for fish tanks. I came across a 50 gallon fish tank with a stand. I contacted the people, and they sent me a couple of pics. It looks decent, no scratches, no leaks, comes with a light, and the stand is in great condition. Should I purchase this set up for $50??

Great deal!! Buy it before someone else does, its only a buck a gallon and the stand is basically free, the way I look at it. :D

I payed 40 bucks just for my ten gallon tank. That didn't even include the stand. :)

$1 per gallon is a GREAT price. Go for it! Where is this tank and stand, I might want to buy it myself?! :sly:

Oh ya! Guess what.. I went to look at the "50 gal tank" This tank is not 50 gal, it is a 80 gal tank with stand! I got it for $50 I am so excited and upset. I just bought a 29 gal from petsmart for $100 I wish I can take it back to use that money for the stuff for this tank!

WOW! Great job on buying that tank. Be sure to make good use out of it. ;)

HOLY MOTHER OF ALL THINGS GOOD! You got an amazing deal the owner must have been an idiot or very nice.

Nice deal! :good: Got any pics yet?

Thanks, I want to make sure I have it set up correctly! Any tips on what kind of filter/pump, and heater I should get for it? The lady was very nice, and very wealthy. They knew it was well over 50 gal, they just wanted to get rid of it. Also I am taking back my 29 gal, and getting my money back from petsmart. So I will be using this mula towards the new tank. I will show some picks when I get it up on friday. Please let me know what kind of filter/pump, and heater I should get for it. Thanks

You generally want 5 wpg for heating a tank, you could probably get by with a 300w heater as long as you are keeping it in an area that doesn't get too cool, and aren't keeping fish that require warmer temperatures. Marineland VisiTherms are a good heater, around $20 online for a 300w.

Filtration will depend on stocking, less filtration is needed for a tank stocked with smaller community fish, more for fish that are messy, such as larger cichlids or cats.

Thanks, I will be looking around online. I will be stocking some cichlids for sure. I will be getting sand for this tank as well.

I would get (2) Penguin 200 Bio-Wheel filters for it. They're good for 50 gallons each.

OMG!!! That's an AMAZING deal. Cheapest I can find here is $55 for a 55 gallon tank only. At petco's dollar per gallon sale. 80 gallons! Plus stand! And light! At petco I got my 29 gallon with tank, light filter, and heater on sale for $70 so I splurged on a nicer stand than I originally bought. But wow $50 for all that that's like 60-70 cents per gallon plus a free stand. Lucky!
