Calling all Fishy People!

Please could someone help me?

I have a Juwel Vision 260 with two light tubes as standard; when switching the lights on I experienced flickering prior to total black-out.

On close examination I have found the terminals on one tube have burnt out and damaged the light unit with it.

PLEASE, could anyone with a spare light unit contact me?

I am happy to travel within the Kent area to collect, and payment will be CASH?

PLEASE TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO ENSURE ALL ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES ASSOCIATED WITH THEIR TANKS TO RUN POWER THROUGH SURGE PROTECTORS!

Thank you all again,

Why not just go to the lfs tomorrow.

Unfortunately 2 of our biggest LFS (2x Ark Aquatics) do not stock these appliances as standard, and take on average 2wks to stock a replacement parts for Juwel, and Swallow Aquatics do not stock Juwel at all - they trade in AquaOne.

I wouldn't be posting this plea for help unless I felt it necessary :-(

Unless you have live plants that need light the fish will be fine. My top row of tanks is lit by room light, which consists of a couple of 40 watt incadescent bulbs. I have a glass block window in the room, I didn't turn on any lights until 4pm today, as my son was sleeping in there. The fish do fine with dimmer light, brighter light is for plants, or without live plants for the benefit of the aquarist.

The only tanks I keep a brighter light on are fry tanks with fry that are younger than a few weeks old. This keeps them off of the bottom, where there are more bacteria. They get light 24/7, 40 watt incadescent.

If you do have live plants consider retrofitting a more common fixture.

Can you keep the top open with a lamp shining in it until you can get what you need to fix it? You can usually find lamps and semi decent bulbs fairly cheap. That would be better than nothing since you do have plants.
