I rescued 7 Tilapia (Bream) fish from the near by dam were they sell fish. All of them are around 4 to 5 inch long. I saw that they are live and I put all of them in my small pound backyard. As soon as I put, I saw 3 of them went down to the bottom. But other 4 stayed above water upside down. But they were breathing. I put them yesterday noon. In the evening I found all of them went down, expect, one. Today morning I woke up hoping that all will survive. But gain I found 4 of them upside down, but all are breathing. Now it's more than 20 hours. How long will they do that? Will they survive.

I tried to create bubbles, in the water to generate oxygen. Am I doing the right thing?

What can I do the save all of them, especially the ones in floating upside down, struggling for oxygen? PLS HELP urgently....

how were they stored where you got them? Were they in a tank?

They may be very shocked because they were simply put stright into the pond and not slowly acclimatized to the water. Does the pond have a pump, fountain or waterfall feature? If not and depending on the size (how big is it?) it may lack oxygen.

Thanks for your reply.

They got the fish from the dam, and put it in a cooler box with some water (but no ice).

My small pond/tank is outdoor, with 3 meter length x 1 meter wide x 1 meter deep. It does not have a pump or waterfall feature. Do I need it for this size pond?

My question is, will a fish survive, if it is once upside down due to lack of oxygen? What can I do to help them at the moment, so that it can live?

To be honest, if they have been 'shocked' badly enough by the move them they might not make it.

With regards to how the pond needs to be set up then I'm afraid I cant help. I have no clue as to how to keep bream or even if it is possible in a home pond.

Try posting in the coldwater section (link below). There might be some people there who can tell you how to care for these fish.
