Hi folks,

I've got a Hagen Tropiquarium 88, with integrated lights/wet-dry filter/heater. Switched them all off for a water change this evening and now cannot get the filter/heater to switch back on. The lights are on - so obviously power is reaching the tank, but the filter is just pushing through a tiny amount of water - appears to be doing something (it seems to be humming a little), but not anywhere near what it's supposed to be doing.

ANy ideas? Or am I off to LFS in the morning?

Cheers

It's ok, panic over, it's suddenly sprung back into life - very strange!

I have no idea what the combo you have is so can't help but what do you think the problem was?

I know my HOB's won't run and will hum if there's not enough water in them and they drain after the water change. Could this have been the reason?

I really don't know what the problem was, I used to occasionally get the same problem with my old filter (not a wet/dry).

The dry portion of the filter was full of water after the water change, but it didn't start even after I emptied it. But perhaps it needed to completely clear out another chamber in there first or something - in other words, I don't have a clue and I'm just rambling on, guessing! lol

OK, was just trying to see so I could learn somethng and maybe help someone out i the future if they had the same problem. :)

The main thig is that it's working now. Sometimes these things happen and we just can't figure it out. :)

trapped air my friend
lol dont worry about it i myself have a external filter and i have to suck  untill it starts pumping thru

its prob air bubbles trapped where you turned it off the huming is a sign of its working :D

It's ok it happened to my Tropiquarium 88 to i panicked abit, i had the same thing the lights were on but no filter working. Then my box started to float sideways. Did you clean the sponges out too? sometimes if they are too dry it takes a while for them to get soggy again.

Don't forget to wiggle the air valve because that cuts the out flow.

What light tubes do you have in your light unit? i have sunglo and aquaglo.

Hi,

Didn't clean the sponges out, they weren't in need of a clean, so I left them.

Lighting-wise, not sure of the specifics, it's the lighting that came with the tank - Sunglo & Aquaglo is all I can tell you. They do a great job of lighting it though - compared with my old Fluval - couldn't believe the appearance of my fish once I moved them into their new home.

Hi guys, I've been very quiet lately (busy at work), but now have another emergency!

Posted this thread ages ago - had a problem where the filter had been switched off on my tank and wouldn't come back on. Same thing has happened again. Filter got switched off for about 30 seconds, and now won't come back on. Absolutely nothing happening, lights are working (run off same switch - so socket fuse must be ok), but absolutely nothing happening with the filter.

This was 3 days ago - previously it returned to life after a few hours. I've now put my old filter in the new tank so it can run for a while like that, but it's hopelessly small for the new tank so I need to get this fixed asap.

LFS etc all pretty useless.

Any ideas?

Cheers
