Is carbon the only media in your filter?

steelhlr you told him to add salt but not how much, a pinch or a tablespoon??

With the fish he has the level of salt needed would wipe out most of his fish.

keep the filter going like fella says and turn the heater up a degree every few hours.

its an old heater and heats up slow so im safe there.when should i see results?and can i use a flashlight to check on infected fish?

Depends on if its an easy strain or not, but keep medicating until the end of the dose and see how they are then. If they still have it then do a 40% gravel vac and add carbon for 24 hours then start again. If theres no spots for 3 days then you can assume its gone.

Have you finished the course of medication???
if not donot add the carbon
As the carbon will strip the meds back out of the water.

Adding aquarium salt during a period of stress or illness will not hurt most fish including scaleless ones. The amount of salt to add may vary from manufacturer..read the carton.

I recommend that you treat your tank for 2-3 days longer than the disappearance of the ich. Drop your temp slowly again afterward.
