Upgrading To Brackish

Hey guys. Just interested what the steps would be for converting a FW to Brackish. Wouldnt adding the salt in kill of alot of the friendly bacteria in filter? (always wanted to know if that happens).

That all depends on what type of salinity you are after, low-end (1.005 and under) or high-end (1.010 and up). A sudden conversion from complete freshwater to high-end brackish will kill the bacteria, although it's not completely determined if the bacteria will die from a sudden conversion to low-end brackish. It's a much safer route to completely re-cycle your tank with brackish water of your desired salinity or do 10% weekly water changes with a SG of 1.002.
