Upgrading Tank, Need Advice!

I'm currently running a 60 Litre small community tank, however I have been able to source a FREE 120 Litre 3' Tank, and after cleaning this up, and replacing all the sealent inside the tank, I am now ready to move the fish. However how would i do this?

Will I need to cycle the Brand new tank once again or can i transfer the filter to the new tank, and add the same water that is in the current tank, then top it up with treated water? Will this not be the same as performing a 50% water change?

What you suggest is fine. Run the old and the new filter in parallel for at least 6 weeks or just transfer all old media to new filter (assuming you are getting a new filter). Stock slowly, no more than 1-3 new fish per week and test often when adding new fish.

You may get a mini-cycle, but that is uncommon.
