Hi you lot :)

We *might* have the opportunity of a much MUCH larger fish tank and I was wondering if you had any suggestions/inspiration for us?

At the moment we have a 4ft x 15" x 18" and in it are:

2 juvi angels
2 bolivian rams
5 penguin tetras
7 cories
1 juvi gibby (6")
1 royal panaque (3")
1 baby ancistrus (1.5")

The tank we've been offered is 6ft x 2ft x 2ft with an FX5, which is a dream come true for me as it means permanent housing for the plecs.

Now I need some inspiration as to how I could have it set up and what I could put in to go with the above. I was toying with the idea of more small/medium cichlids (not large or overly aggressive ones), but it's subject to change and I want to make sure it suits what we already have.

Any idea, photos or inspiration much appreciated :D

Hey!

Nice tank Kathy! We just got our big tank and in the process of setting it up! Slightly different dimensions to yours, 5 by 2 by 3 (high) and we're also pondering over what else to get. My current lot are gonna get lost when they go in! LOL!

Hope you get it mate cos it sounds awesome!

Can't really make any suggestions to your stock though, cos as you know I'm no expert! :D

I have lots of jealousy!!

how about a couple of shoals of rainbows and some dwarf chiclids?

Thanks Bex - you know how long we've been waiting for this opportunity too. The only other option was really to wait til Xmas time and buy brand new when we had a bit more money *lol*, and that would mean a cheap Chrimbo. This is an opportunity I don't want to miss out on, but my God in this living room we're going to be very cramped with a 6ft x 2ft tank in it *lol*. Here's hoping that new house comes through for us too. Do you think moving house is going OTT for the sake of a gibby?

If at all poss, I want to keep it South American (ish). I don't mind losing the penguin tetras (I mean rehoming) and getting larger tetras if it means we can have slightly larger fish. But otherwise yes, dwarf cichlids would be my choice if I can't have slightly bigger. :)

Thanks!

fair enough, i'm rubbish at knowing where things come from so can't help much with stuff like that  enjoy your planning though, I wish I had room for a 6 foot tank. :D

LOL kathy! Our new tank has completely swamped our lounge - we only live in a small flat!!! We have had to sacrifice a chair for it - guests can now enjoy a nice beanbag!! Our tank is our Crimbo pressie - just a tad early LOL!

Hope you get the house too, though I imagine moving with lots of tanks will be fun!!!

you can get eartheaters, Jewel cichlids, Convicts, severums, silver dollars, tiger loaches, and a group of african butterfly fish for the surface(like 3 or 4). JUst throwing some ideas out.
:D

not good idea's masterp if she is keeping the other fish......

rainbow cichlids are peaceful i find, apisto's, rams, angels?

:good:

keyhole cichlids would fit in well with the fish you already have. They were planned for my main tank until my boyfriend ruined my plans

Thanks Sam :D I'm entering your realms now aren't I?

I don't want to go with fish from a different continent from what I have already - rainbows and gouramis are lovely but I'm trying to keep it as natural as poss. :)
