hey peeps.

on saturday I changed over from my 38G to a new 75G tank. i put regular gravel i had laying around as a base. then took out the plants from the old tank and placed in the new one (with no water). once i had taken out all the fish and placed them in the holding tank, I moved all te eco-complete from the 38G to the 75G. then filled up with water, started filters. etc...
in less than 12 hours my java vern and brazilian sword both grew red algae!

I dosed my remaining Excel and did a water change today. what else can I do? will it just go away once I resume my regular dosing schedule? or do I have to take drastic steps to remove it?

thanks!

proabaly causd by an ammonia spike. Clean it off, and keep dosing the excel and it should stop providing the light in the new tank isnt much higher.

alright thanks for the help. the ammonia spike i wouldn't doubt, as all the bottom sediment from the 38G ended up as the top of the 75G and the water was really stinky. i added two fresh carbon pads and now it's all good. pads are out, water is finally clear. everything is settled. none of the fish suffered from the change :)

the previous tank was 3" with a 30W light. this is 4" with a 40W light. so very little light for now...
