I was going to call him Petal, but he is big and manly :flex: so i doubt he would like it... Thoth sounds good. is itpronounce tho-th like the soft th?? anyone else got any ideas?

Bret

Is it a he or she then, and Bret please have patience and wait until it stays still I want to see him properly.
That red dragon they have for £9.99 in my lfs is to die for...very clever though they have red fish in the tank and with him in the trap he looks good so feisty and nice shape to him as well. I went and got the bloke who works in there as the hmpk had got out of his trap and was hiding up the corner...the bloke got him back in but he had a nipped tail!

Hey Dib Dabs, leave it. Im on this forum NOT UKBetta, you all slate me there, but not here :grr: if you havnt got anything nice to say, dont say anything at all. Ooh, and everybody yeah i bought him and this other one as females but they turned out to be Male PK so a nice bonus.

Thanks amerce ;) Plus i think he has a bit of redwash, either that or its his colouring. His tail and dorsal and anal, Oh and ventral, so most of his fins have a pinky blue colour on. So i would think it is redwash. Wouldnt mind trying to breed him when he is older :)

Bret

I'll not slate when you start acting your age instead of your shoe size. :p I sincerely hope the betta lives a long and happy life. But in light of your recent activity and manner it seems somewhat unlikely. And that would apply to both forums.

Even if i did act my show size... it would be 11.5 so 2 and a half years.. but hey back on topic. Ive got a betta ive had for 3 years... a blue VT. he is my old boy. i also have various ones around 9 months old mark etc and all of my bettas live long lives.... apart from the water company decide to put in extra chloramines in the hot weather :grr: so just leave it...

aww, what a pretty boy. i've never been able to tell females from male plakats. how do you tell?

Pretty.

Guys, just leave Bret alone. It's not fun or happy to be yelled at for your pet care (trust me I know). Yeah, Bret may have made some mistakes (and I personally don't know the whole story) but just leave it. It's his life, not yours, and we all care for the wellbeing of bettas, but geez..

males usually have slightly longer fins and no white spot on their belly :p and most of them have slightly more pointed anal fins - i think -

thanks  i need to go check my females. i had a sorority, but they continued to tear one another to bits, despite their adequately sized tank. it was ridiculous. i am giving away three of them, and my sisters are keeping the other two in their individual betta tanks. i am beginning to wonder if one or more is a young male plakat. that would explain the extreme aggression they have displayed.
