Update On "squishy"

Just wanted to update everyone on our betta that we got ahead of schedule. He's doing very well! very lively! he's made a bubble nest in the corner of his tank already and stares at himself in the reflection of his tank and flares out. We found that he doesnt like his betta pellets so we have been giving him some tropical fish flakes that we feed our other fish and he seems to like those (next time im around a pet store i'll grab some betta flakes) His head is at about 80-82, we have a few silk plants in there for him, and a small 5 gallon filter, i know betta's dont like current so we disrupted the water flow with part of a soda bottle and he's just fine. sometime's he gets to close to the intake on the filter and gets mad. he's really very funny.

He is purple and Teal and my daughter really wanted bright pink aquarium gravel on the bottom of the tank. personally my husband and i think its a bit much, and are debating adding some other colors into it to tone down the pink. Can anyone reccomment some other colors that would compliment his colors??

also is there anything else i should know/do? someone mentioned in an earlier post of mine his fins seemed tatty, i dont see how they do but we have been doing some small water changes daily.

Glad to hear he's doing well Most fish stand out well against a black substrate, but if your daughter is after pink she might not like that too much. You could maybe try a paler colour (a paler pink, perhaps?) just to tone it down a little.
If you really don't want that sort of colour gravel, how about a pink decoration, background or plant instead? A pink 'background' would be easy enough by using something as simple as wrapping paper or wallpaper. You could maybe even get your daughter to paint/draw her own picture or design. Just stick it on the outside of the back of the tank - should work fine so long as it doesn't have a background already stuck there
