Update On Sliver Shark

Not at all! I'm putting around 43 fish into a 55 gallon tank... you're think more along the lines of the rule of thumb, 1" of the fishes maximum size per gallon of water, HA! Think of it like this, goldfish need 20 gallons of water per fish and they can get upto a foot, where as neons grow only to max 1.5" and need 20 gallons of water every 15 fish  apply that rule very loosly, if your tank is well set and you have good filtration and a good air pump then 60 fish in a 90gallon could even work :D

Please stop, you're giving out false information well maybe not quite false but not entirely correct . The rule of thumb only works for small bodied fish like barbs, tetras and so fourth. You cannot put a ten inch fish into a ten gallon tank. And whats this about goldfish growing upto a foot? Nonsense! Koi can but they need 300 gallons plus. Fancy goldfish need 20 gallons per fish but these don't grow a foot, alot less! Fishkrazy1 think about what you're saying before you say it, no would recommend a 13+ inch koi in a tank thats only 20 or less inches long.

Hi, I guess neither of you were aware of this, but guppies don't lay eggs, they give livebirth.

Neon unless you didn't read some of my posts on the first page, which I doubt you did, I recommend LIVEBEARERS such as GUPPIES! I was talking about his sharks possibly breeding... unlikely as it may seem... red other posts before you go and say we don't know things because we clearly do, I've worked a in fish store for over a year so don't question my knowledge...

Use common scense... The goldfish was an example! and your the fool for saying only Koi grow over a foot... Some fancy stains of goldfish can acheive sizes of 1ft or more... do some research before you question my comment. Also the rule of thumb is a load of crap was what I was getting at it should be applied VERY losely... Don't tell me to think about what I'm saying when your the one who should think first...

Looks like both of us need to watch our wording a little more closely.

You never said guppies are livebearers. You mentioned livebearers. You mentioned guppies a little later on. But you never said guppies are livebearers.
Here are two posts (one's yours, one's ihasanzongi's) that mentioned fish laying eggs. It's obvious he thought they were guppies, and seems like you thought the same thing, meaning you thought guppies laid eggs.

ya in the 30 gallon get say 12 females and 4 males and you should see lots of babbies... also make sure you have some plants (live or fake) so the female can hide a bit during breeding, also so the eggs don't get eaten laugh.gif they'll get stuck the the plant leaves and the hatch, for the first couple of days they'll absorb their yolk sac and then when they become free swimming drop them in the 90 gallon biggrin.gif also are you going to add a clown or ghost knife to the 90?

forgot if I gave you this site already http://www.aqualandpetsplus.com good info biggrin.gif
30 gallon, i would only breed in this one, or could i breed in 90 as well, i think the sharks or other fish would eat eggs in 90... unsure.gif

Lose the attitude. I did nothing that should have upset you. It seems I read the other posts better than you did, even your own posts. Just because you didn't like what somebody said doesn't mean you should take it out on others. I did nothing that should have upset you, but you got mad and took it out on me anyway. I think I deserve an apology. After all, I way only trying to help, and it appeared that both of you were mislead. So I corrected you. That's all I did.

As for plants, it depends on how much your willing to spend on lighting and CO2, as well as how much time you'll commit. If you have plenty of time and commitment, and don't mind spending the money, you should try to get better lighting and a good CO2 system. The Planted Forum can help you with that.

okay okay, lets not fight here, first things first your welcome, i hope you enjoy your sharkys :p

and i'v seen gold fish over 1 foot long, my local store has a group of them all over a foot long and rather fat too :D

about the guppies we talked about, but not in this forum, i did clue in (after i posted about the eggs) that they are live babys, or fry..

back to the sharks!!

two of my sharks have become VERY close to one another, looks like a male and a female correct my if im wrong but female are lighter colour? :hyper:

I just looked it up, I haven't seen anywhere say females are lighter in color, only that they are plumper. I don't think your fish would be sexually mature yet though, as they are only a few inches long. I'm not sure when you'll be able to sex them, probably when they get to about 10 inches maybe? That's just a guess though, I couldn't find it anywhere.

Male balas have a slender body and a female has a more wider body. I have two one female and a male and there very easy to tell apart. Mine are about 4 inchs or so. :good:

Oh, lol, I haven't even got the tank yet. Still ssavign my money. It'll be a while. But I've already got it planned. :D The tank has to go in the basement because I don't think my floors will hold the weight of a big tank. I'm gonna have to clean it a bit though, my basement is GROSS. To cycle it I'm going to run the filters in my 30g for a few weeks. And it'll have a few plants. Nothing that needs high light, though. I think I'm going to put a lot of slate in it.Build it up along the back and as it goes forward it will slope down like stairs. It'll be about 8 inches high, and go along the entire back of the tank. I'm going to make a moss wall, with java moss, you can find instructions in the planted forum pinned topics. I'm also going to put a bunch of java ferns on the slate, and in any gaps there's gonna be cabomba. Oh and java moss on some rocks, too. There's also going to be floating plants, but I don't know what kind yet. It's kind of tough to explain how it's gonna look, really. I'll get pics when it's up, it'll be a while though. Oh, and the tank is going to be VERY big, AT LEAST 125g, with sand as a substrate. I'm going to have otos, yellow banded tetras, glass catfish, 5 balas, 5 clown loaches, about 20 cories, LOTS of kuhlie loaches, a few zebra plecs, harlequin rasboras, and penguin tetras. That's a lot of fish. So I'll need a big tank. And lots of money lol. Getting the tank will be the toughest part, though.

Ane yes, it's normals for most tetras to eat bloodworms. Lots of fish like them.

oh dudee!!! thats going to like like..iunno crazy! i love that slate! its going to like sooooooooooooooooooooooooo good!! i have a perfect picture of it in my head, i love that moss idea, i'v always wanted to do that all on the back of the tank  your tank is goign to look great and will be worth the wait and money, are you getting a used tank? or new, i would go with a used one save alot of money!!!! and just wash the tank really really good :) :good: i'v used my savings for my 90gallons that i had from my summer job. :good:

Lol, I'm only 14, can't get a summer job ...yet. I can do chores though. God I really want this fish tank! Oh, and it has to be bowfront, so that when I tank pictures the flash doesn't bounce back and blind me
