Well she had the fry last night when I went to bed and the only surviving fry was eaten promptly after trying to eat a small flake that landed near the clump of gravel he was hiding. Well her and my calico platy were mating a few times off and on so I am not worried about her not having fry in the next 28 days. The sad thing was that she didn't square off, hide, or lose her appetite like my other two did while ready to birth and I feel bad that the fry were eaten because I negelted to notice the signs of labor. :(

Good to know that she gave birth already, but I'm sorry that that hppened to you :rip: .... Maybe there are more fry in the tank that you can't see.

Don't sweat it, We all have our up's in down's in fish keeping. We all learn from them, and you get better, and eventually you will be more experienced with fish keeping. :good: :good:

Do you have sand or gravel? If you have gravel be careful if you siphon it....i had fry that liked to burrow into the small spaces between the gravel bits.

I am sorry for your losses. I am having issues with that right now as well. Every since I rescaped my tank, I haven't had any survivng fry. I am about to ad more plants in hope of seing cute little babies show up out of the blue.

I'm sorry you lost them all. When I don't put the female in my breeding tank(which I dont do now that I have a bunch of fry in there and don't need more, just the survivors that deserve to be happy with my fry.) most get eaten but on occasion I do see the odd fry. I've caught 5 fry that I've just seen swimming around my main tank. Survival of the fittest if they live they deserve a better chance to live.

Sorry that you lost them all. There probably are 1 or 2 more left. It always seems to be that way. :)

I found one surviving fry but its having trouble swimming so I might put it out of its misery. :/

If it were me I would let it live...it is only a day old after all...it's not exactly a great swmmer yet

It flopped a little and died without me touching it. My orange and white male platy has been mating with his little herem of females so I think in about a month I will have new fry. ^.^

Thats a good way to put it. :)
