On occasion, I have been seen with bettas at both restaurants and movie theatres. No, I'm not crazy enough to take my fish on trips to town with me... but sometimes I'll buy a fish, then decide to go do something else while I'm in town, and being that I live about 20 miles out of town, it's impractical to drive the fish home first. I'm bought fish before going out to eat with friends on multiple occasions before, and once, I bought a betta before going to a movie with a friend (we were in Houston at the time, 3 hours from home, so there's no way I could have brought it home beforehand anyway.) I've taken bettas to Ihop, and once, I took a marine clown fish to Quiznos with me

Am I the only one who has done this?

Nope. Once I buy fish, I make an immediate bee-line for home to ensure the stress to the fish is kept at a minimum.

I do the same as SirMinion when i visit the LFS, but one time when I went to a friend's house to get some free fish we were pulled over by a police officer and he asked to see what was in the chest between my legs(making sure it wasn't alcohol :p ) He was met by a 6" plecostomus and 13" Scat! The mans fast was hilarious! We explaained to him what was happening and he forgot that we were speeding and let us off to get home quickly! :D

i always go straight home after buying fish. i hate leaving them in the bag for too long as a know this stresses them out and that is not something i want

I plan my trips so the the LFS is the last place I visit!!!

Except today...I had planned on getting a tattoo done....went to the shop...turned out I needed to make an appointment. Prior to this I went to the LFS around the corner...saw a highfin swordy I liked and went back an hour later (just then)

if i know that im going somewhere else with the fish in the bag i ask if i can put that fish on hold and on the way home come and pick it up, but that rarely happens, since my favortie lfs is a 2 minute drive from my house :D

Oh I don't go other places with fish in bags... except for that one time with the clown fish, because my friend was driving me and was determined to go to Quiznos first whether my fish died or not... I only do it with bettas in their cups.
I'm sure it's not that great for them, but I've yet to have a fish die from it... anywho, those are the lengths living pretty far out of town drive me to, sometimes; especially with gas prices on the rise and my being a poor college student :p

When I went to the betta show in Seattle I was bringing a fish for Julie and one I was planning to show. Well, I missed the shipping date and so they went on the plane with me, which is not allowed. I stayed in a hotel the night before so they were in cups for that part, then that morning I put them in teeny tiny bags
about this size:

They were in my purse until right before I went through security, then I went in the bathroom and put one in each pocket. Of course I was one of the random security checks and they went through all my stuff and patted me down everywhere but the pockets

I then went straight back to the bathroom and returned them to my purse.

On the plane I kept putting my purse in my lap to minimize shaking and the flight attendants kept telling me to put it under the seat. After a while the guy next to me asked what was going on and I let him peak. Of course as we're deboarding he starts yelling to his wife (who was in a different row) "She's got fish in her purse! Yeah fish! Air breathers!"

Anyway, off the plane and to my hotel where one headed over to the show and the other back in his cup :)

Sorry so long :look: But thats my "fish in public" story :flex:

My LFS is right next to a little market with a fish and chip shop. Once when I wanted to get a betta, I decided that since the fish store got new stock in on Wednesday evening, I'd go then. So I went at 5:00 pm just as the shop was closing and on my way out with my new fish I decided I was hungry so I stopped for fish and chips.

I was stuck in the queue for ages with this poor fishy, and with everyone looking at me. Kind of an ironic place for a living fish to be.......

I bought my zebra loaches and I was on the tube home, and it stopped. The announcement said there were delays and we wouldn't be moving for some time... I was only one stop away and I was in a hurry to get home because of the fish. But it was freezing cold outside and I was worried about the temp in the bag getting too low so in front of everyone staring... I took off all my jumpers and put the fish bag inside my cloths, put them all on again, and walked home looking very pregnant!

You're all mad, MAD I tell you ;)

No, can't say I've ever been caught in a strange place with fish

I've been in McDonalds after being to the lps. It wasn't a scheduled stop and I glared at my hubby the whole time. He decided it would be a good idea to eat there and let our son play in the play room  -_- They were fine and I've had them at least 6 month or more. I've also had to take my fish home on the bus in somewhat cool weather. I stuck the bag in my coat and got a few funny looks.

I try to get straight home and so far nothing weird's happened to delay me - but I HAVE tried to smuggle a baby chick from one country to another - that was a strange experience...
