Unshelling shell dwellers

Hi there,

Only ever used the method described in the Cichlid Forum article you linked for my Lamp speciosus.

Regards

Andrew

Unless you have a special reason for not doing so, you may as well just move the whole shell (with fish included) to the new tank. Otherwise most shellies will swim out if you lift the shell to the water's surface.

Thanks everyone.

I'm going to try to shake them out first, but I thought that would cause them to retreat further into the shell.

sylvia - I think I want to keep the original breeders in the tank, but remove the 10 - 15 biggest juvies. I might just move the entire colony. I've been putting this off for a long time. I need to start planning on re-homing some of these fish, but I hate to get rid of my babies. :byebye: I need to decide if I want to ship some of these fish to people (I've never shipped fish, and I'm not sure if I want to risk it) or just trade them for credit at a LFS. :S
