Hi Guys

I recently noticed one of my tetras had a swollen lower lip, since then his condition has deteriorated with fin rot and misshapen body (bent spine etc). It seemed to be isolated to that one tetra, but now I've noticed that one of my larger and stronger leopard danios has the same protruding lower lip.

Any ideas about what this could be? The tetra I think is beond help but I'm worried about the other fish in the tank since the danio seems to be showing similar symptoms.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've uploaded a pic of the tetra and the danio - although not very good quality I hope it helps.

The pic on the right looks like it may be mouth rot; which is often caused by flexibacter columnaris, a bacteria often responsible for fin rot. While the symptoms of mout rot appear fungal, it is bacterial in cause.
Bacteria could also possibly be responsible for the bent-spine, although this is normally in association with mycobacterium (fish TB) although i was informed by a reliable member recently that this is quite rare, so the spine may be related to genetical and/or nutritional factors. Also possibly related to NTD (neon tetra disease)

Although it doesn't particularily look like mouth rot on the lefthand picture so i'm by no means 100% certain.

Are you treating with an anti-finrot/anti-bacterial medication?
Have any fish shown any discolouration?

I'd certainly research columnaris/mouth rot if i were you and see if this fits......
