a wile ago i was at the dam near our house and i saw 2 realy cool plants one was floating and the other not. anyway i got a few of each and put them in one of our ponds that has no fish and the floaty ones i want in my tank would it be fine as i dont want issues with sikness or other problems and what steps could i take to help prevent problems or isnt such a good idea.

Can you post a few pictures of the plants you would like in the tank?

This would help greatly in helping to identify this plant and whether they are suitable or not.

this is the floaty one each individual pland has 3-5 leaves

each leaf is the size of a small finger nail

Silvinia natans it looks like.

I have had those in my tanks, real nice and some fish species appreciate having shade.

They absorb a lot of nutrients from the water column so adding ferts will be of real benefit for those and the other plants you have.

OK coolbut what mast i do to them to make tham safe as they have come out ot the 3rd dirtiest dam in the world

Looks like Silvinia natans.
You can make them safe by doing a 10% bleach solution dip for 2 minutes.
The bleach solution is simple to do:
1 part bleach for 9 parts water!
The once you have done this, rince under lukewarm water, then you can add it in your tank.
I have done this in the past to treat some nasty looking plants.
Most of them survived.
